DJ EARWORM – UNITED STATE OF POP 2009 (BLAME IT ON THE POP)

DJ Earworm has given me arguably the best gift in music in 2009, and I’m practicing something I don’t normally believe in; re-gifting. I just have to share this with everyone, and you can take this as your Christmas, birthday, or whatever-you-like present.

I’ve always been a fan of DJ Earworm, i.e. since my brother put me on to him about a year or so ago. DJ Earworm is probably one of my favorite mashup DJ’s, if there’s even any such thing. Anyways, Earworm’s work is defined in his moniker. His work is truly an earworm, i.e. something you can’t ignore, in case you couldn’t follow.

If this were an actual song it would be the monster single of the year. Hold on, the year isn’t over yet so it CAN actually be the monster single of the year for the next two and a half hours. Where else could you possibly go to hear Drake, Taylor Swift, and the Kings of Leon on the same track?

Trust me, this is worth the listen. You can thank DJ Earworm later, but right now click here to listen to and/or download this song.

I know you want pop, you want dance, you want rock & roll…”

Happy New Year!

DRAKE – FOREVER (STEVE AOKI REMIX)

This is for all my Drake Fans.

This is for all my electronic fans.

This is for music fans.

Drake’s “Forever” is probably the monster single of the year. Kanye West x Lil Wayne x Eminem = Undisputed Greatness! Just when I thought the buzz surrounding the song had started to wear off, Steve Aoki blessed us with a remix.

For the unfamiliar heads, Steve Aoki A.K.A DJ Steve Aoki Kid Millionaire is not your everyday DJ. Unknown to many, he has remixed some of your favorite songs and some of your parent’s favorite songs. And by some of your parent’s favorite songs I mean Michael Jackson’s “Dancing Machine.” Yes, you read that right. He has also received international acclaim, including the awards for “Best Party Rocker DJ” by BPM Magazine and “Best Mix Album of the Year” by Billboard.

Aoki’s “Forever” remix is a treat. I was blasting it at work and I could see why he won that Best Party Rocker DJ award ‘cuz virtually everyone who walked by me either made a comment giving props or broke out in dance. Lord knows what I would do if I could make hot chicks break out into dance at will… lol

Without further ado, I give you Steve Aoki’s remix of “Forever.”

LIL WAYNE – TREASURE OF THE CARRIBEAN

Treasure of the Carribean

I just realized that lately I haven’t made any posts in the heavy rotation category, so this is for all my music heads out there. This mixtape came out a while back, and although it isn’t an official weezy mixtape, it’s still one of my favorites.

The album artwork for the mixtape is pretty funny, but when you think about it weezy could definitely be a pirate. I can picture him screaming “Arrgh” and telling other rappers to walk the plank… LMFAO!

Anyways, this is one of those times when I’m feeling really generous, so I’ve decided to drop two tracks off the mixtape. One track is a single by Mika Means featuring weezy and the other is a remix blend of Drake’s “Forever.”

Lil Wayne – Life Is A Roller Coaster (Featuring Eminem & Drake)

LIL WAYNE & YOUNG MONEY – EVERY GIRL

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “LIL WAYNE & YOUNG MONEY – EVERY GIRL“, posted with vodpod

This is my favorite song and video out right now… probably because it features two of my favorite artists: Weezy + Drizzy. I didn’t know what to expect for the video, but they did a good job with the animation and pop-up words.

Click here to see the video in it’s full view.

I’ve been working on my graphic design lately, so I decided to make a cover for the “Every Girl” single.

The video was very playful so I decided to carry that theme over to the album artwork and I really like the outcome.

I’m feeling really generous so I decided to drop two mp3 versions as well.

DRAKE – NOVEMBER 18TH

so-far-gone

This song is the s**t. The whole So Far Gone mixtape is the s**t. Drake is a beast! He murders every f***ing track on the mixtape.

I take my listening sessions very seriously, so whenever I listen to a new mixtape or album I always make sure I’m paying full attention. When I listened to this track I played it back no less than 30 times before I got to the end of the song… NO LIE!

This track is fire! I know I say that a lot, but Drake kills it. I don’t care whether or not this song goes mainstream, he needs to make a video for it ASAP!

P.S. – My computer is f***ing up so I had to borrow a link from 2dope. I’ll have the MOMB link up by tomorrow night.

DRAKE – SO FAR GONE (MIXTAPE)

drake-so-far-gone

Finally, the wait is over! October’s Very Own Drake just released his 3rd official project, So Far Gone, yesterday.

This mixtape is sure to be fire. I am yet to listen to the entire project, but I’ve heard snippets of about two songs and that s**t is knockin’. Once I get out of work, I’ll be devoting the rest of my day to this mixtape.

Here’s the tracklisting.

TOP 5 ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2009

5. RON BROWZ

jumping-out-the-window-single

I’m sure you’re all still recovering from last year’s Pop Champagne craze. Everybody and anyody made a remix to Pop Champagne, from Papoose to Rick Ross, although the best remix is arguably Pop Rose by Drake and Trey Songz. Although Ron Browz has definitely been in the game for a while now, he finally went major last year.  Some of his more recent production credits include Rotate by N.O.R.E., Winding On Me by Fat Joe, and his own relatively new single Jumping (Out The Window). Ron Browz is definitely capitalizing on his new found fame as he is set to release his new album, Jumping Out The Window, on March 17.

4. ROCK CITY

put-the-f_ckin-album-out-mixtape

Rock City definitely took over the summer with their smash single Loosin It, and they are determined to stay relevant by hopping on as many songs as possible, from Guns High by Ace Hood, to Hustle by E-40. Their sound is unique and the world just can’t seem to stop eating up every song they come out with. They have also put out a number of mixtapes, my favorite being the Put The F*ckin Album Out mixtape. Every song on that mixtape is pure fire! Rock City is set to release their debut album, Wake the Neighbors, sometime this year, but in the meantime you can listen to any of their various mixtapes.

3. DRAKE

heartbreak-drake-the-best-of-drake

Aubrey Graham a.k.a Drake or Drizzy, whichever you prefer, is yet to truly take the world by storm, but 2009 is definitley his year. With songs like Brand New, Pop Rose, and Ransom, among others, Drake is starting to become a household name. Honestly, Drake would be numero uno on this list, if not for something I’d like to refer to as the “T” Factor. Althoug Drake is a familiar name in Toronto, Canada, of which he is a native, he is yet to get the recognizable mainstream promo in the U.S. that many of the other artists on this list boast. I like to refer to Drake as “The Most Slept On,” but with co-signs from Trey Songz and Lil Wayne, the stage is set for him to truly take the world by storm in 2009. Be on the look out for Drake’s next mixtape So Far Gone.

2. WALE

while-you-were-out-best-of-wale

I’m just doing what I gotta do, flyer than the rest of ’em, still got my Nike boots…” and that’s how Wale’s hit single Nike Boots begins. Wale has definitely been on the come up for  a while now. I was already bumpin’ to the sounds of Wale way before his smash hit Nike Boots went mainstream. I still remember in the summer of 2007, on the 4A bus to Rosslyn Station, wildin’ out to Wale’s Ice Cream Girl off his 100 Miles And Running mixtape. That’s my s**t. Once I listened to that mixtape I knew he was gonna blow up. All I know is that the world still hasn’t seen the best of Wale and he has the opportunity to  do big things ‘cuz he defnitely has everyone’s attention now.

1. KID CUDI

kidnamedcudifront

If you still haven’t heard Day ‘n’ Nite then you’re definitley drawlin’ LMAO. The remixes by Jim Jones and Collie Buddz are fire! Day ‘n’ Nite might be one of Cudi’s more popular songs, but don’t be confused, that song doesn’t define his talent. Go listen to his mixtape, a KiD named CuDi, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. That s**t is knockin. Oddly, my favorite song on that mixtape by far is Embrace the Martian, but don’t sleep on songs like Maui Wowie and Is There Any Love? featuring Wale. Kid Cudi has also gotten publicity through Kanye West’s latest album, 808s and Heartbreak, as he is featured on the album’s second track, Welcome to Heartbreak. I don’t know what else to say except that 2009 is the year of the Kid.
