DRAKE – FOREVER (STEVE AOKI REMIX)

This is for all my Drake Fans.

This is for all my electronic fans.

This is for music fans.

Drake’s “Forever” is probably the monster single of the year. Kanye West x Lil Wayne x Eminem = Undisputed Greatness! Just when I thought the buzz surrounding the song had started to wear off, Steve Aoki blessed us with a remix.

For the unfamiliar heads, Steve Aoki A.K.A DJ Steve Aoki Kid Millionaire is not your everyday DJ. Unknown to many, he has remixed some of your favorite songs and some of your parent’s favorite songs. And by some of your parent’s favorite songs I mean Michael Jackson’s “Dancing Machine.” Yes, you read that right. He has also received international acclaim, including the awards for “Best Party Rocker DJ” by BPM Magazine and “Best Mix Album of the Year” by Billboard.

Aoki’s “Forever” remix is a treat. I was blasting it at work and I could see why he won that Best Party Rocker DJ award ‘cuz virtually everyone who walked by me either made a comment giving props or broke out in dance. Lord knows what I would do if I could make hot chicks break out into dance at will… lol

Without further ado, I give you Steve Aoki’s remix of “Forever.”

LIL WAYNE – TREASURE OF THE CARRIBEAN

Treasure of the Carribean

I just realized that lately I haven’t made any posts in the heavy rotation category, so this is for all my music heads out there. This mixtape came out a while back, and although it isn’t an official weezy mixtape, it’s still one of my favorites.

The album artwork for the mixtape is pretty funny, but when you think about it weezy could definitely be a pirate. I can picture him screaming “Arrgh” and telling other rappers to walk the plank… LMFAO!

Anyways, this is one of those times when I’m feeling really generous, so I’ve decided to drop two tracks off the mixtape. One track is a single by Mika Means featuring weezy and the other is a remix blend of Drake’s “Forever.”

LIL WAYNE & YOUNG MONEY – EVERY GIRL

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “LIL WAYNE & YOUNG MONEY – EVERY GIRL“, posted with vodpod

This is my favorite song and video out right now… probably because it features two of my favorite artists: Weezy + Drizzy. I didn’t know what to expect for the video, but they did a good job with the animation and pop-up words.

Click here to see the video in it’s full view.

I’ve been working on my graphic design lately, so I decided to make a cover for the “Every Girl” single.

The video was very playful so I decided to carry that theme over to the album artwork and I really like the outcome.

I’m feeling really generous so I decided to drop two mp3 versions as well.

THE 51ST GRAMMY AWARDS “SWAGGER LIKE US” PERFORMANCE… JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This performance was phenomenal, to say the least. I don’t know about you, but shivers went down my spine as I was watching the performance.

I gotta give it to M.I.A ‘cuz that was a ridiculous stunt that she pulled coming on stage when she was to due to have her baby that night.

This picture is on some iconic s**t and I give props to whoever took this. All I think of saying each time I see this pic is HOVA!… for real.

This pic right here says it all. I have no further comments, except that if you didn’t see this performance you’re really slacking.

BREAKING BOUNDARIES OR PURE BULLS**T?

lilwayne-promqueen

Knowing the nature of MY OWN MOTHERF@!%#ING BLOG you should already know where I stand on this, but I think it’s only right that I let other people speak out.

**WARNING** – “Opinions are just like a**holes. Everybody has one, and they are all full of s**t.”

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, let me do the math:

[Kanye West : 8O8s & Heartbreaks] = [Lil Wayne : The Rebirth]

Aight. No more bulls**tin’. Listen for yourself.

Lil Wayne – Prom Queen

Before I forget, I just peeped this over at Lil Wayne’s MySpace page.

I guess Weezy is performing his new single at the Cox Arena today and AT&T is letting people watch a LIVE streaming of his performance on their facebook page. Click here for the link to stream his performance live.

I’ll definitely be watching that tonight. You should too.

BIRDMAN & LIL WAYNE = ALWAYS STRAPPED

birdmanlilwayne9

Since the hype for Tha Carter III slowly began to die down, my ears have been crying for some new Lil Wayne songs, preferably a mixtape, but my wish for a HOT new Weezy song haven’t been granted until recently.

I heard Weezy’s Red Rum track, featuring Dre (of Cool & Dre) about 2 weeks ago and I must admit that s**t is hot, but I wasn’t feeling the song the way everybody was talking about it. Don’t get me wrong, the track is HOT, but it just didn’t cut it.

About two days ago, maybe earlier, I heard Always Strapped and my immediate reaction was a long a** smile across my face, and then I proceeded to dancing like a f***ing maniac to this s**t. Yes, it’s that serious.

I’m waiting on the full CD version (without any drops) of the He Rap, He Sing track off the T-Wayne album. I’m not sure if it hasn’t already have surfaced yet ‘cuz I haven’t been on my music grind in a minute. Either way, I’ll make do with Always Strapped while I keep waiting to find the T-Wayne s**t.

TREY SONGZ – COMFORTABLE

trey-songz

Trey Songz is back again in ’09 ridin’ the instrumentals of your favorite songs (PAUSE)… and he definitely just killed Lil Wayne’s hit, Comfortable. I was thinking about using one of his lines from the song as the post title, but every line is pure fire.

I usually don’t post a song as soon as I hear it, but I couldn’t pass this one up. Ladies, don’t get too comfortable… even when you’re listening to this song… LMAO. Get it? don’t get too comfortable? Whatever… lol

TOP 5 ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2009

5. RON BROWZ

jumping-out-the-window-single

I’m sure you’re all still recovering from last year’s Pop Champagne craze. Everybody and anyody made a remix to Pop Champagne, from Papoose to Rick Ross, although the best remix is arguably Pop Rose by Drake and Trey Songz. Although Ron Browz has definitely been in the game for a while now, he finally went major last year.  Some of his more recent production credits include Rotate by N.O.R.E., Winding On Me by Fat Joe, and his own relatively new single Jumping (Out The Window). Ron Browz is definitely capitalizing on his new found fame as he is set to release his new album, Jumping Out The Window, on March 17.

4. ROCK CITY

put-the-f_ckin-album-out-mixtape

Rock City definitely took over the summer with their smash single Loosin It, and they are determined to stay relevant by hopping on as many songs as possible, from Guns High by Ace Hood, to Hustle by E-40. Their sound is unique and the world just can’t seem to stop eating up every song they come out with. They have also put out a number of mixtapes, my favorite being the Put The F*ckin Album Out mixtape. Every song on that mixtape is pure fire! Rock City is set to release their debut album, Wake the Neighbors, sometime this year, but in the meantime you can listen to any of their various mixtapes.

3. DRAKE

heartbreak-drake-the-best-of-drake

Aubrey Graham a.k.a Drake or Drizzy, whichever you prefer, is yet to truly take the world by storm, but 2009 is definitley his year. With songs like Brand New, Pop Rose, and Ransom, among others, Drake is starting to become a household name. Honestly, Drake would be numero uno on this list, if not for something I’d like to refer to as the “T” Factor. Althoug Drake is a familiar name in Toronto, Canada, of which he is a native, he is yet to get the recognizable mainstream promo in the U.S. that many of the other artists on this list boast. I like to refer to Drake as “The Most Slept On,” but with co-signs from Trey Songz and Lil Wayne, the stage is set for him to truly take the world by storm in 2009. Be on the look out for Drake’s next mixtape So Far Gone.

2. WALE

while-you-were-out-best-of-wale

I’m just doing what I gotta do, flyer than the rest of ’em, still got my Nike boots…” and that’s how Wale’s hit single Nike Boots begins. Wale has definitely been on the come up for  a while now. I was already bumpin’ to the sounds of Wale way before his smash hit Nike Boots went mainstream. I still remember in the summer of 2007, on the 4A bus to Rosslyn Station, wildin’ out to Wale’s Ice Cream Girl off his 100 Miles And Running mixtape. That’s my s**t. Once I listened to that mixtape I knew he was gonna blow up. All I know is that the world still hasn’t seen the best of Wale and he has the opportunity to  do big things ‘cuz he defnitely has everyone’s attention now.

1. KID CUDI

kidnamedcudifront

If you still haven’t heard Day ‘n’ Nite then you’re definitley drawlin’ LMAO. The remixes by Jim Jones and Collie Buddz are fire! Day ‘n’ Nite might be one of Cudi’s more popular songs, but don’t be confused, that song doesn’t define his talent. Go listen to his mixtape, a KiD named CuDi, and you’ll see exactly what I mean. That s**t is knockin. Oddly, my favorite song on that mixtape by far is Embrace the Martian, but don’t sleep on songs like Maui Wowie and Is There Any Love? featuring Wale. Kid Cudi has also gotten publicity through Kanye West’s latest album, 808s and Heartbreak, as he is featured on the album’s second track, Welcome to Heartbreak. I don’t know what else to say except that 2009 is the year of the Kid.

R.I.P Stephen “Static Major” Garrett

static-major1

Life is so short. Each time I listen to any one of Static’s songs I can only wonder what path his musical career would have taken him were he still alive today. This dude is an extremely talented individual and I’m actually sad that I didn’t get familiar with his work before he passed.

Everybody knows Static Major through Lil Wayne’s summer hit, Lollipop, but he has countless other works. I just found out that he worked extensively with Aaliyah on songs like Try Again, We Need A Resolution, and Rock the Boat. Some of his other writing credits include Pony by Ginuwine, You Owe Me by Nas, and On the Hotline by Pretty Ricky.

I was on his MySpace yesterday when I heard apparently one of his older songs, Til the Wheels Fall Off, and now it’s receiving heavy rotation on my iTunes music library. This song is real smooth and he definitely kills it. This song definitely receives my stamp of approval, so please feel free to ride out to this one ‘cuz that’s what I’m doing.

There’s actually another version of this song featuring Pretty Ricky, but that version doesn’t even compare to this one.

The play count for this song right now is 54 in less than 24hrs!!! Yes, it’s that serious.
